You’ve heard a lot from us, now meet some of our people and hear about their experience with Café Rouge.
David, Head Chef, Café Rouge Southgate
"I first joined Café Rouge – at the tender age of 16, starting as a kitchen porter. I worked my socks off and rose through the ranks – Commis Chef, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef – all the way up to Head Chef and I am now a Head Chef Trainer – The best part of working for Café Rouge is that I’ve been free to express my passion for food, drink and people. I’ve helped devise new menus, delivered menu training sessions and skills workshops, and I help new starters take their first steps towards running their own kitchens. What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s people that live and breathe Café Rouge who make our brand. And that’s true from top to bottom."
Lucy, General Manager, Café Rouge Chester
"My Rouge journey started on a busy Bank Holiday weekend in August, after getting to grips with the bar and serving guests I wanted a bigger challenge! Within three years I was able to progress to general manager of my own site and since then I have been able to train and nurture new talent who feel the same way I did a few years before. The prospect of a busy shift still gives me a buzz and there is no better job satisfaction than a full restaurant with happy guests and a happy team! "
Alina, Area Manager
"My journey with Café Rouge started 10 years ago. I started off as a part time waitress whilst I was finishing my Master’s Degree. I got hooked on Café Rouge and hospitality! I loved talking to people and interacting with my peers. After a couple of months I became Supervisor and then Assistant Manager. In 2009 I became a General Manager and was given the opportunity to open a new Café Rouge, which a managed for 4 years. In 2013 I needed a new challenge, and luckily for me Café Rouge in St Paul’s London became available, this was a much bigger site and was full of great development opportunities for me. I had a fantastic Area Manager who believed in me and in internal development. Now I am an Area Manager myself and I am looking forward to continuing an exciting career with Café Rouge!"
Kerry, Regional Support Chef, food Development Team
"I started my Café Rouge career as a Busser cleaning tables and assisting waiting staff. After I finished my A Levels, I got offered a job as a Kitchen Assistant. I was interested in cooking and took it upon myself to learn with the help of my Head Chef. In 5 years I had worked my way up to Head Chef thanks to the great development and support I received. I have worked at a number of really big, busy, high profile sites and I relished the challenge! I was recently promoted to Regional Support Chef and I love the idea of being able to help the Rouge Family continue to deliver the best food to our Guests"
